Sicomorul — cel mai înalt loc din Ierihon. O perspectivă filocalică asupra convertirii lui Zaheu, vameșul
3 Decembrie 2024
The icon of Saint Zacchaeus the Apostle, one of the 70 disciples of the Lord (20th of April), involves another icon of the meeting of Jesus with the chief publican in Jericho (Lk 19, 1-10). Jesus makes his way through one of the oldest settlements in the world to be welcomed in the heart of one of the most hated persons among the inhabitants of that city. Through repentance and the experience of seeing God, Zacchaeus the publican becomes Zacchaeus the Theologian, while the sycomore turns into the highest place in Jericho. We are not referring to the majestic crown of the tree, but to the surpassing of creation through spiritual contemplation, a state that enables the converted Zacchaeus to descend in his heart, before the Lord.
