The initiative of becoming a Patriarchy came from both the clerics and the faithful of the Romanian Autocephalous Orthodox Church and the sovereign State of Romania, but priests raising the issue in congresses preceded the initiative of any church or political officials. Taking into account the role that the priests played in raising the Romanian Orthodox Church to the rank of a Patriarchy, for a more practical approach, this study explores the contribution of Theology professor and priest Ioan Mihălcescu, professor at The Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest and parish priest of Amzei Church in the capital. His confession and defending of the True Faith, his involvement with all major aspects of the Church's life in its time of reorganization after The Union from 1918 and his participation in the festive events regarding the installment of a new Patriarch, Miron Cristea, those are part of the coordinates of Ioan Mihălcescu's work that served The Romanian Orthodox Church for the recognition of its prestige among other Orthodox Patriarchies.
