The role of starets in the liturgical life of the monastery

The Fathers of Church, founders and organizers of monastic life, enlightened by the Holy Spirit and grounded in the words of Holy Scripture, define the monastery as being not only as the place where the monks pray, work and battle in the spiritual war. The monastery is much more than that. It is the „city” and „house of God”, in which He rules and works whatever He wills. Here, forcing their human nature, monks desire to imitate the ministry of angels in heaven. To achieve the ideal of living angels, the Lord has entrusted to the monks, among other gifts, the liturgical treasury of His Church. When you behold a monk dressed in his simple and specific clothes, your mind goes immediately to his inward image.
