This paper aims to make a comparison between the eastern hymnographic creations incorporated in the service of September 23 and June 24 (the conception and birth of John the Baptist) and the homilies LXXXVI-XCII of Saint Peter Chrysologus. The main purpose is to identify a series of topoi, highlighting the existence of a unitary tradition both in the East and in the West that used the same hermeneutic keys to interpret and develop the meanings of the first chapter of the Gospel of Luke.
