Ομοουσιος τω Πατρι: The Expression of the true Faith at the Ecumenical Council of Nicaea

Ομοουσιος τω Πατρι: The Expression of the true Faith at the Ecumenical Council of Nicaea

5 April 2012

The attempts of the modern theologians to render the term homoousios by Aristotelian philosophy did not lead to a result that was intended: to clarify that the perfect communion of the Son with the Father is clearly expressed by the word homoousios, as argued at the first Ecumenical Council of Nicaea. We take note, also, that the attempts of the modern theologians to prove that the origin and meaning of Nicaea homoousios used in Western theology are not confirmed by patristic sources. Homoousios to Patri is an expression of faith and confession of the entire Eastern tradition as established before and after Nicaea.
