Notes on St. Euthymios the Miracle- Worker, Bishop of Madytos, brother of St. Parasckeva of Iasi
21 January 2026
Saint Paraskeve the New is one of the most beloved saints in Romania, with her feast day pilgrimage to the reliquary in Iași on October 14 being perhaps the largest religious journey in Southeastern Europe. However, few are aware of a lesser-known aspect of her life: she had a brother, Eutymios, who later became a bishop and a miracle worker. The Orthodox Church celebrates him on 5 May. His biography, which can be pieced together from various sources, remains relatively unknown among Orthodox Romanians.
