Modern Utilitarianism and its Consequences on Moral Conscience
The aim of this article is to present a glimpse over the modern utilitarianism especially that of John Stuart Mill, in parallel with the Christian view, underlining the superiority of the last. As the name of this philosophical current denotes, the centre of this teaching is how to act in order to acquire the most benefits from it and to improve the quality of the personal life, regardless the needs of the other. On the other hand is the Christian teaching which shows that the personal good is a result of communion with God and with the neighbour and this can be accomplished through living the life of Christ. Living this life the man becomes son of God in spirit and receives the true happiness by taking part in the communion of the Holy Trinity.
