An ideal representation of the relationship between man and God: Saint Righteous John Jacob from Neamț — the Hozevite. A History of a life in Christ and for Christ
A rich documentary material has been gathered about the life
of the Saint Righteous John of Neam]. It reveals us nowadays the
gentle face of a young man with great love for parents, school
and church. He was a young man who not only heard God's call
to holiness, but he answered to it, choosing to achieve the spiritual
fullness by living the monastic life. Thus, the Righteous John from
Neam] – the Hozevite is not only a great personality of the Romanian
Church of the twentieth century. Most of all, he is a saint, an example
of service and total dedication to God and to the neighbors, a
standard of synthesis between simplicity, authority, humility and
prestige.
Being the witness of a difficult historical context for his country,
his poetry reflects the struggle between traditionalism and modernism.
The Saint Righteous John from Neam] – the Hozevite expresses
through his lyrics the love of country, the longing for spirituality of
Moldavian monasteries that was a pedagogue to fulfill the desire
for God in the wilderness of Hozeva.
In celebration of 50 years after its passage to the Lord (5th of
August, 1960 to the 5th of August, 2010), Saint Righteous John from
Neam] – the Hozevite continues to teach us, through his lyrics and
through his example and effort to achieve the fullness of spiritual
life, that the light and the life of Christ are the only ones that give
sense to modern exploration of this world and of the man himself.
