The icon and the transfigurated route within the liturgical worship

The active participation to the divine praise opens to the faithful the possibility to enjoy the incarnation’s grace and to get to know Jesus Christ, giving this way a good start to the sanctification and transformation process of his life. The same divine worship, carried on in the silent presence of the icons teaches us to discern the beauty of the human face transfigured after the model of Christ’s face. The present study gives points to the icon’s importance within the liturgical worship with a view to mark out the transformation act which takes place in the faithful’s soul. Maintaining this way the balance between artistic expression and theological doctrine, the byzantine icon is liturgical discovered in a hidden way and shows the religious human the path to deification.
