Father Prof. PhD. Dumitru Stăniloae in the Penal File about the „Burning Bush” Group. A Study Case

The case of Father Staniloae is one example of how the clergy and the disobedient intellectuality were terrorized during the peak of the communist persecution. If about Father Adrian Fageteanu and for all those arrested on the night of 13/14 June 1958 it can be said that the research has evolved very carefully and thoroughly, in all Father Dumitru Staniloae’s investigation there could be seen a great rush to complete it and run it through all the stages precursory to the process to be included in the trial, in the same group of those arrested before him and whose investigation is nearing an end. On the other hand, the investigator has sufficient information from the previously arrested statements for not having to force. The investigation was very superficial, if it would not have resorted to confrontation, after which Father Staniloae was required to admit, in part, some accusations, it would have been believed to fulfill a formality because the father had been convicted anyway in the statements made by members of the core group. They also tried to convict the father for „legionary propaganda activity”, but this didn’t succeed, as it was too big a lie even for those times.
