The battle between David and Goliath remains one of the most important events of the Old Testament and because of its rare circumstances in which it took place, it’s questioned by some biblical scholars if the battle really took place. The cause why there is a reasonable doubt on David’s victory over Goliath are the few passages that describes this event in different ways and moreover given the superior strength and physical status of Goliath is hard to imagine how this giant could have been killed by a young shepherd only with a slingshot. However, this study is focused on misinterpretation of the mentioned passages and on reconstructing the dynamics of a battle in which, as we will see, brute force cannot overcome the faith of a man.
